Pectoralz was the original name of Coldplay. It was formed by Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland.

Pectoralz was founded in 1996 by Martin, chrispin and Buckland while studying at university. When Guy Berryman joined, they changed their name to Starfish. Will Champion soon joined, and in 1998, they changed their name to Coldplay.
