"Music of the Spheres" (occasionally titled as "Music of the Spheres I" and stylised as "") is a song by Coldplay from their ninth studio album, Music of the Spheres. It is the first track on the album. On the concept of the record, the track represents Neon Moon I, the second natural satellite on The Spheres solar system.
Background and composition[]
In an interview for Apple Music, Guy Berryman revealed that the decision of including interludes and musical sections between tracks is to use them as “palate cleansers” within their albums as a whole.[1] Chris Martin revealed that the opening words for the song were created by the album's co-producer and long-time collaborator Bill Rahko who used a Speak & Spell toy to create the electronic voice effect.[2]
"Music of the Spheres" is the first of five tracks on the album to have its title stylised as an emoji; the others are: "Alien Choir", "Human Heart", "Music of the Spheres II", and "Infinity Sign". The song's end segues into the album's next track, "Higher Power".
