"Moon Music" (stylised as "MOON MUSiC") is a song by British rock band Coldplay from their tenth studio album, Moon Music (2024). It is the first track on the album and features English electronic musician and producer Jon Hopkins.

Background and composition[]

"Moon Music" was developed through a combination of two different pieces of music: an adaptation of an original song by Jon Hopkins called "Forever Held" and a piano piece by Coldplay called "Elodie".[1][2] The original version of "Forever Held" was made in collaboration with NASA and Erica Lauren Bernhard, and was released by Hopkins on 30 October 2024,[3] whilst "Elodie" was included on the Full Moon Edition of Moon Music.

The song starts with the same electronic voice effect from a Speak & Spell toy as previously heard on the Music of the Spheres title track, and segues into the next track, "Feels Like I'm Falling in Love". The strings section was arranged and performed by British-based composer John Metcalfe.

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
Moon Music

[Verse]
Once upon a time, I tried to get myself together
Be more like the sky and welcome every kind of weather
Be more eagle-like and find the flight in every feather
Once upon a time, but I'm still trying to get better
Maybe I'm just crazy, I should just be a brick in the wall
Sit and watch the T.V., blame everyone else for it all
But I'm trying to trust in the heavens above
And I'm trying to trust in a world full of love
Fire and water and constantly dream
Of the balance of things and the music between
If there's anyone out there, I'm close to the end
If there's anyone out there, I just need a friend

[Outro]
Feels like
I'm falling in—
Feels like
I'm falling in—
Feels like
I'm falling...
